Obamaloney and Your Health (photos)

9 08 2012

I was reading about the new candidate tags bullied about by the opposition and the “Reverse Romney Hood” christened by Barack Obama makes its political point, but just comes off sounding lame.  Now if you want to sink you teeth into something with big health consequences then “Obamaloney” or Obama Loney is your ticket. Someone (see above) said it is 100% bull, but that can be interpreted as crap or pure protein. Those who have drank liberally of the Kool Aid would go with the Atkins ingredient list.

If this butcher can find a sign “from above” in his inventory, then surely if we slice up Obamaloney, we might find therein some interesting descriptors without nuance or misinterpretation.

This lunch meat loaf looks too pure and wholesome to do the trick. Its missing the requisite gristle, congealed fat and other disgustables that have been offered by our President, Senate Majority Leader and House Minority Leader as of late.

This gentleman is what we get at our front door if we choose to disagree with Obama, support Mitt Romney or exercise our opposition to what he is cramming down our collective throats.

This would be better with a heaping ladle of Obamagravy and some of that grape Kool Aid.

The old protein standby: SPAM, never seemed so good nor as nutritious!

Obama Stops Oil Leak with Torpedo – EXCLUSIVE

26 05 2010

It has just been confirmed that President Obama has personally stopped the deep water oilwell leak in the Gulf of Mexico at 3:05PM EST.  He skippered a one man submarine and blasted the well with a “High Tech Torpedo.” News reports from Bobblehead Central confirm that he succeeded on the first attempt. Reports from surface ships confirm that the leak has stopped as the resulting implosion sealed off the flow of oil to the sea floor.

The President will be speaking from the Oval Office at 9:00 PM EST.

Detailed below is an accurate diagram of the torpedo launch at one mile below the ocean surface.

Gulf Oil Leak-Halliburton-Cement-Investigation

6 05 2010

The first article is from NPR.ORG and the second is from a main link on Halliburton’s homepage

A cementing job done by a Halliburton crew just hours before the oil accident in the Gulf of Mexico has emerged as a central focus of the investigation.

Bad cementing work has triggered leaks in the past, and some experts say it’s hard to imagine a scenario where it was not part of the problem at the Deepwater Horizon well, too.

“That will certainly be a central part of the investigation,” says Elmer “Bud” Danenberger, who recently retired as the chief of offshore oil regulations for the U.S. Minerals Management Service.

Still, experts say that even if cementing contributed, it was only one of a series of failures that resulted in an explosion that killed 11 people and sent millions of gallons of oil spewing into the Gulf of Mexico.

Halliburton, the company responsible for the cementing, told members of Congress that it did its job correctly. And it probably will take a long time before investigators know what, if anything, went wrong with the cementing, but experts and lawmakers have a lot of questions.

“I am suspicious that the cementing job played a role in this,” says Rep. Ed Markey (D-MA), who heads the House Energy and Environment Subcommittee.

But he says he will withhold judgment pending a government inquiry.

“This is going be the biggest investigation that’s taken place since Three Mile Island,” Markey adds, referring to the 1979 nuclear plant meltdown. “We will have to go back and ensure that whatever happened never happens again.”

 Cementing Before The Explosion

Just 20 hours before the accident, a team from Halliburton was pumping cement into the Deepwater Horizon well.

There was already a pipe in the well for the oil to flow through, but no oil was supposed to flow yet. Cementing, one of the last steps in well construction, seals the crack between the pipe and the wall of rock. Crews pump the cement through the pipe, but it ends up on the outside of the pipe, in the space between the pipe and the rock wall. The cement also caps the bottom of the pipe.

Experts say there are several ways to botch a cement job. For instance, you could mix it incorrectly or not pump enough of it into the well.

If oil and gas are pushing through the rock into the drill hole anywhere along the length of the pipe, it might create a pocket that the cement would not fill in.

If that was the case, operators should have known about it because they would have had cement left over. It is kind of like baking — if the batter doesn’t fit in the pan, it’s a clue that something is amiss.

When drilling a well, the presence of leftover cement is a signal that pressure is rising back up the hole, probably from a mixture of oil, gas and other stuff.

“If some oil and gas were to invade the well, kind of get around the cement, if you will, before it dried, and then work its way up the well, then you could have a problem,” says oil industry veteran Bruce Bullock, the director of the Maguire Energy Institute at Southern Methodist University.

If there are gaps in the cement or it does not set correctly, oil and gas could surge up and out of the well. And if there’s enough of it, it will explode, like Deepwater Horizon did. A blowout preventer should stop a surge from causing a leak, but in this case it did not.

 Cementing Implicated In Other Accidents

Still, Danenberger, the former regulator, says a cementing job should not create such a problem to begin with, because cementing is a standard part of drilling a well, and not even one of the riskiest steps.

“It’s pretty established technology, and if you follow the right precautions and you monitor your information, it should be straightforward,” Danenberger says.

But in recent years, cementing problems have become more prevalent. Cementing contributed to half of the 39 U.S. blowouts between 1992 and 2006, according to a report that Danenberger co-authored in 2007.

After that, the government pushed to change cementing standards, but let the industry write them.

A cementing job done by Halliburton is also implicated in an Australian oil rig disaster last year that gushed oil into the Timor Sea for 74 days.

Having produced over four billion barrels of oil in the past eight years, the deepwater US Gulf of Mexico remains one of the world’s most prolific producing areas. Masked by huge sheets of subsurface salt, the Gulf’s deepwater Miocene and Lower Tertiary trends place extreme requirements on all aspects of well operations.

Complex challenges exist, but tremendous opportunities and rewards make deepwater activity a driving force. Halliburton technologies have played a key role in the success of many deepwater Gulf of Mexico wells.

We have been involved in over 50 high-profile GOM deepwater drilling projects with over 100 wells drilled. As the market leader in deepwater completions, we have completed over 350 deepwater wells in the GOM.

The complexity of the challenges presented by Miocene and Lower Tertiary trends, coupled with the Salt Canopy in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, are immense. Success in these deepwater environments calls for a service company with reliable and proven technology, along with the experience and customer commitment to achieve efficiencies through the entire process.

Our experience speaks for itself.

Sarah Palin – Admits Trouble With Campaign

13 11 2009

The rumors are true, according to Sarah Palin: The McCain-Palin campaign was not a happy family.

In Palin’s Going Rogue, Palin confirms reports of tension between her aides and those of the 2008 Republican presidential candidate, Sen. John McCain. The vice presidential candidate confirms that she had wanted to speak on election night, but was denied the chance and says she was kept “bottled up” from reporters during the campaign.

Palin also writes harshly of CBS anchor Katie Couric, whom she describes as “badgering” and biased. Palin’s series of interviews with Couric were widely regarded as disastrous, leaving the impression of an ill-informed candidate who was unsuited for the job.

Did Obama Curtail Free Speech in U.N. Deal?

6 10 2009

You Can’t Say That
At the UN, the Obama administration backs limits on free speech.

The Obama administration has marked its first foray into the UN human rights establishment by backing calls for limits on freedom of expression. The newly-minted American policy was rolled out at the latest session of the UN Human Rights Council, which ended in Geneva on Friday. American diplomats were there for the first time as full Council members and intent on making friends.

President Obama chose to join the Council despite the fact that the Organization of the Islamic Conference holds the balance of power and human rights abusers are among its lead actors, including China, Cuba, and Saudi Arabia. Islamic states quickly interpreted the president’s penchant for “engagement” as meaning fundamental rights were now up for grabs. Few would have predicted, however, that the shift would begin with America’s most treasured freedom.

Heroin a Deadly Gift from Afghanistan

3 09 2009

From 9-3-09 Morning Edition from NPR News

Listen – Heroin

I’m a heroin addict, and I feel as if a piece of my heart is going to war in Afghanistan. I’m not using anymore, but this war and my addiction are horribly intertwined.

You see, my 23-year-old son, William, is a member of the U.S. Navy’s elite Mobile Unit 11. The unit is heading for a newly constructed base in Afghanistan. And the enemy they’ll face has everything to do with heroin.

The Taliban funds terrorism with millions of dollars from the opium trade. Afghanistan supplies most of the world’s heroin.

It has been 22 years since I methodically unwrapped a tiny plastic bag of heroin, tossed the white powder into a cooker and fired it into my veins. I remember sitting in detox — shaking with panic attacks, gagging, trying desperately to survive just another minute. I used to have nightmares about a 6-foot needle chasing me in and out of the shadows.

Now, because of William’s mission, I feel heroin nipping at my heels again. The panic attacks are coming on strong. I do my best to forget that my boy is going to war, but the nightly news reminds me. In reports of American soldiers, young boys, killed by roadside bombs, I see William’s face instead, and instantly my brain rewinds to when he was 12. I watch him run wild on a football field in Lowell, Mass. Then I see his boots hit the ground in Afghanistan.

I’m deeply troubled, wondering if my son will be trying to wipe out the crop that nearly killed me 22 years ago. Guilt rattles my brain like a BB in a metal boxcar. Back then, I was an involuntary “customer” who helped create a demand for the drug. I was the last link in a system that produced and distributed heroin — the very system my son William will be trying to break.

Last night, my detox nightmare came back. This time, though, it’s not a needle full of heroin chasing me. Instead, I see an AK-47 rifle’s bullet, a roadside bomb tucked neatly under loose gravel, or a rocket-propelled grenade moving quickly through the air, but slow enough that I can see the trace from where it came. It’s after my son William. I wake up just before it takes him out.
